FAQs
I’m trying to get pregnant. How will the Clearblue® Smart Ovulation Test help me?
There are only a few days each cycle when you can get pregnant – the day of ovulation and the days leading up to it. Knowing your fertile days can help you get pregnant faster. Clearblue® Smart Ovulation Test detects the surge in luteinizing hormone (LH). The LH surge occurs approximately 24-36 hours before ovulation (the release of an egg from your ovaries). You are at your most fertile on the day your LH surge is detected and the day after.
How do I know when to test?
When you set up the app you will be asked to enter when your last period was and your cycle length. The app uses this information to calculate your test days. If you do not know your cycle length the app will be unable to tell you when to test but you will be given an option to wait or use the default cycle length.
Can I test more than once a day?
Yes. You can test more than once a day if you want to. All your results will be recorded in the app.
Do I need to use the app to read my results?
Yes. You must use the Clearblue® app to capture, analyze, display and record your results. Do not use any other app to do this. After testing you will see lines on the test. These should not be read by eye. Follow the instructions in the app to capture the image.
Can I test after my LH surge?
Yes. You can continue to test after your LH surge is detected. If you carry on testing your results will be plotted on your LH graph so you can see how the level start to reduce
Can I use other test sticks to get my result?
No. The app can only read results from the Clearblue® Smart Ovulation Test Sticks. Do not use the Clearblue® app to try and read other test sticks.
What if I don’t see my LH surge in a cycle?
If you don’t see an LH surge, it may be that in this cycle it was too low to be detected, or you may have missed a test around your LH surge. It is also possible that you have not ovulated this cycle. This isn’t unusual but we would recommend you see your doctor if this happens for 3 cycles in a row.
Can I use Clearblue® Smart Ovulation Test if I’m taking Clomiphene citrate?
Clomiphene citrate does not affect the tests, but may affect the length of your cycle and, therefore, when you should be testing.
Can I use the Clearblue® Smart Ovulation Test as a method of contraception.
No. The test is not intended for contraceptive use.
Will the app work on my phone?
For more information on compatible phones and operating systems visit www.clearblue.com/connectivity.
What if I change my phone?
We would advise you not to change your phone during a cycle but wait until your next cycle starts. If you do change your phone during a cycle you may get misleading results.
